President Putin hails Moscow on City Day
MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday congratulated Muscovites on the 859th anniversary of the capital. Speaking at the opening of festivities dedicated to Moscow's City Day, Putin said the capital was a symbol of Russia's greatness and statehood, and wished the city and its residents prosperity and further success. "There is no doubt that Moscow sets the pace of life for the whole country," the President said. "It is a city that is turned to the future and looked upon, without exaggeration, by the whole world."
