Nitrite nitrogen pollution of Moscow River still high
MOSCOW, November 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The nitrite nitrogen concentration in the Moscow River exceeds the maximum permissible level by more than 30 times, assistant head of the Hydro-Meteorological Committee Natalia Yershova told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
?The Moscow River?s pollution with nitrite nitrogen is still high, so the Moscow hydro-meteorological and environmental monitoring center of the Russian Hydro-Meteorological Committee again took samples of water between the villages of Ilyinskoye and Nizhneye Myachkovo on November 7,? she said.
Chemical tests showed that the nitrite nitrogen concentration exceeds the maximum permissible level by 31 times near the Moscow oil refinery, 29-31.3 times near the village of Nizhneye Myachkovo, 3.4 times near the Babyegorodskaya dam, and 2.2 times near the village of Ilyinskoye.
As compared with the November 3 tests, the nitrite nitrogen concentration has increased from 16 to 31 times near the Besedinsky Bridge, and reduced from 46 to 31 near the village of Nizhneye Myachkovo, Yershova said.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the abnormally high concentration of nitrite nitrogen in the Moscow River was registered near the Lyubertsy sewage facility and the Moscow oil refinery on October 18-19. Itar Tass
