Moscow's mayor promises $1,000-bonus for baby cars buyers
MOSCOW, March 1 (Itar-Tass) -- Those Moscovites who will prefer to buy and drive baby cars, should be awarded substantial amounts of cash, Moscow? s Mayor Yuri Luzhkov told the capital?s environmental protection collegium on Thursday. ?We should establish incentives for citizens who opt for small-size cars with electric and hybrid engines. I am ready to grant a bonus of 1,000 U.S. dollars to each of them,? he said. ?Such cars will contribute to bettering the ecological situation in the city and may help to ease the traffic jams problem somewhat,? Luzhkov said. Every such purchase may be encouraged with a variety of benefits, such as free parking on city streets, free accommodation at roofed car parks, and exemption from the transport tax, Luzhkov said.
