Moscow libraries to work until midnight
MOSCOW, May 27 (Itar-Tass) - Moscow City?s major libraries will stay open until midnight Sunday in an action titled The Day and Night of Open Doors in Libraries.
Russian librarians took over this initiative from the museums that remain open until midnight May 18 each year when Russia marks Museum Day.
May 27 is the all-Russia Day of Libraries and Book Stack Rooms.
The Nikolai Nekrassov Research Library is the center of the festival of books and knowledge in Moscow this year. The initiative to organize the day of open doors came from its staff members.
The visitors will be invited to familiarize themselves with novelties of digital library technologies, to watch the best productions of Russian and international movie industry, and to try themselves in various computer games and quizzes.
Young visitors will get books as presents, and for this purpose the Nekrassov library has prepared 500 books on science and culture.
The promotion activity of Moscow libraries is obviously gaining in versatility, as this time young visitors will be able to enjoy themselves in karaoke rooms and even at dancing sessions ? something that would be unimaginable some fifteen years ago.
Several other major libraries targeting their activity at young audiences will also have similar events.
Russia first marked the national day of libraries in 1995.
