Jewelled arts of India in the age of the Mughals
For the first time ever, treasures of Indian rulers of the 16th to 18th centuries are being exhibited in Moscow. According to the exhibition's organizers, the exhibit in the Kremlin's Uspensky belfry shows off the most interesting and impressive items that arrived on the international art market and were snapped up by Kuwait's royal family in the 1960s to 1980s. The collection includes jewelry, weapons decorated with precious stones, and individual precious stones, of which a huge spinel engraved with the names of six emperors is the most notable exhibit. Rubies and emeralds with quotes from the Koran are also worth seeing. The exhibition has come to Moscow as part of a long international tour and is expected to return to Kuwait's National Museum in 2011. Until May 22 / Kremlin's Uspensky Belfry / m. Biblioteka im.
